We are looking for Mass Communication students with all talents and skills. We will be meeting this Thursday at 11:15 a.m. in the Mass Communication office. Please e-mail Professor Bill Huntzicker (wehuntzicker@stcloudstate.edu) if you are interested or would like more information.

The First Amendment Forum is our chapter’s staple event. For more than 30 years, the day-long event focuses on a particular topic in journalism. We bring in a panel to discuss the issue and offer students, staff and the public the chance to ask questions.

This year’s forum will be held April 16, 2010 in the Atwood Little Theatre.

Jacob Gilk, a senior photojournalism major from Albany, Minn., will share pictures from his journey to New Zealand, China and South Africa as part of his Independent Study course.

His worldwide trek is highlighted by his visit in South Africa with one of his mentors, George Hallett, last year’s SCSU “Voicings” guest of honor and former photographer for Nelson Mandela.

Gilk is a former visuals editor at University Chronicle. He brings to bear his commitment to story-telling photos and to celebrating cultural differences and similarities.
